5 Most Loved Endangered Animals in the World

5.  Giant panda (Ailuropodamelanoleuca)

Who would not love a panda? Pandas are probably the most kitschy animal that humans have pushed to the verge of extinction yet. From martial arts-trained Disney character to the bi-colored beast inspired stuffed toys, everyone can’t seem to get enough of them. Great thing is, their overly sweet character has not been without effect. Since the late 1980s, China, which is home to remaining less than 2,500 of Giant pandas, has legislated tougher habitat protections and policies against poaching. The status of the wildlife population remains tenuous, however. They remain subject to occasional predation, disease, and starvation as large swathes of the bamboo on which they feed dies after completing its lifecycle. As a result, their range continues to be fragmented.
